My word (or phrase) for 2021 is ‘humble confiden My word (or phrase) for 2021 is ‘humble confidence.’

The alternatives are insecurity or pride, and I’m done with being either of those. I want to be confident in who God made me to be, His plan for me, and the choices I’ve made based on His leading. But I don’t ever want that confidence to turn to pride- I live my life for Jesus, not others’ approval.

I love this quote written out in my journal by A.W. Tozer about humility and confidence in the Lord’s plan. I’ll post the whole thing in my stories!

What is your word for 2021? 🤍
I chose the word ‘present’ for 2020. I am abs I chose the word ‘present’ for 2020. I am absolutely horrible at living in the present moment and enjoying what is right in front of me. Looking to the future is what comes most natural to me.

But I wanted that to change in 2020. I wanted to live in the moment and be fully present with those I love.

As we all know, 2020 didn’t go as planned 😂 I struggled to stay present at times, or actually a lot of times.

Over all, I would say I am better at being conscious of staying present. Often I find myself realizing I need to stop and take in the moment. But I still do not naturally stay in the present moment.

So in 2021, I will continue growing in this area and relying on God to teach me how to be still and focus on the present moment. It is so worth it!

What was your word for 2020? How did it impact your year?
Happy birthday to the best Christmas present I’v Happy birthday to the best Christmas present I’ve ever received! Emily, you are so full of love and joy, and I’m so grateful that you are my sister. I love you!

To the single girl who feels like she’s not enou To the single girl who feels like she’s not enough:

Please know that you’re not alone. I remember when relationships would end, I would question if I really was enough. Or just not being in a relationship at all would trigger those feelings of inadequacy.

But you know what, I realized that everything that was happening was a part of God’s plan. When a relationship would end, God was protecting me from something that wasn’t the best for me, and He was freeing me so I could be available for something (not necessarily marriage) later. It wasn’t because I wasn’t enough.

And I also learned that I really wasn’t enough. I’m only enough IN JESUS, which makes me more than enough.

So girls, please remember that you ARE enough in Christ. When those feelings of inadequacy start to come on, remember that God is saving you FROM something FOR something- we just gotta trust Him ❤️
This has been one of the hardest semesters of my l This has been one of the hardest semesters of my life. I’m tired, burnt out, lacking passion for things I once was so passionate about, and so unmotivated. And the semester isn’t even over yet.

It’s not just college that’s been rough; there have been many other things that have just been hard.

I wish I had a nugget of encouragement or even a solution to share tonight, but I don’t really. I just have two thoughts to share with you.

1. The first is this passage:

“Not only that, but we rejoice in our sufferings, knowing that suffering produces endurance, and endurance produces character, and character produces hope, and hope does not put us to shame, because God's love has been poured into our hearts through the Holy Spirit who has been given to us.”
‭‭Romans‬ ‭5:3-5‬ ‭

2. The second is this: I am in this with you. I may not have anything profound to say right now, but I hope that it encourages you to know that you’re not alone in your struggle.

Comment an emoji below if you need some prayer tonight 🤍
The other day, Jason and I went to the grocery sto The other day, Jason and I went to the grocery store to get ingredients so that we could cook dinner together. We grabbed a Caesar dressing so that we could make a quick side salad. I’m allergic to gluten, but because I eat other Caesar dressings often, I didn’t even think to check the ingredients. And sure enough, when we got back to his house, I noticed it had gluten in it.

I apologized a few times, and each time Jason told me it was okay and that I didn’t need to worry about it.

After a few moments he looked at me and said, “Hey babe, remember that I’ll never get mad at you for accidents like this. It doesn’t help anything.”

😭❤️

Moral of the story? Girls, wait for a man that is patient, kind, and selfless. It makes all the difference; trust me.
Is anyone else a perfectionist? The older I get, Is anyone else a perfectionist? The older I get, the more I realize how much I crave perfection.

This striving, this desire for everything to be perfect, always ends in disappointment.

But why? Why do we always come up short when this world was originally created to be perfect?

I think we know the answer to that: the fall. When sin entered the world, it marred the ability for perfection.

Now? Jesus is the only one able to obtain perfection.

But also? Jesus gives us grace, all because of the cross. He knows we could never attain perfection. Our pursuit for perfection will always come up short. Because of this, He died the death that we deserve, to pay the price that we could not pay.

His sacrifice covers our imperfection when we repent and turn to Him.

Grace, not perfection.

We are no longer held to a standard of perfection, but of grace. He’s got us in the palm of His hand. When we fall, He’s there to pick us back up and encourage us to keep going.

Should we still strive for holiness? Absolutely.
Should we still do our best? Absolutely.

But that soul-sucking pursuit of perfection? We can give that up.

We can rest in God’s grace and allow that to spur us on to be all that He has called us to be. His grace gives us the strength to keep going, the motivation to give our all for Him.

So for all of the perfectionists out there, I pray this encourages you. Rest in His grace and keep moving when you don’t reach perfection. You are enough IN HIM, not in your own effort, and there is so much freedom in repentance and grace.

“For from his fullness we have all received, grace upon grace.”
‭‭John‬ ‭1:16‬ ‭
