Y’all, I am so excited about this post today! It is a collaboration with my friend Kimberly. We decided we wanted to write about prayer, and with my audience being mostly single girls, I knew I wanted to write about 8 things every single girl should be praying about. Kimberly made a video all about prayer prompts for the single girl, so be sure to check it out! It’s linked at the very end.
We all know prayer is vitally important in the Christian walk, but I know that for me, at times I do not take it as seriously as I should. Prayer can change our lives and helps us draw so much closer to Jesus, so why don’t we pray as much as we should? God has been convicting me of this lately. I’ve also been convicted about spending my single years well, so I want to go to God in prayer about that.
Well, let’s get into the prayers!

8 Prayer Topics for Single Girls
1. Future Husband
How about we start with a popular one! Most of us have probably been told to pray for our future husbands, and if you are like me, you have been doing it for a while.
I think it is so important that we pray for this man that will one day be such a large part of our lives! That is why I wrote a blog post on it.

Lastly, Robin Jones Gunn and Tricia Goyer wrote an amazing book called Praying for Your Future Husband. I highly recommend it!
2. Contentment
This is a big one. If you are anything like me, sometimes it is so hard to be content as a single girl. When you see other people with their significant others and people that seem further on in life than you, while you feel stuck, it’s hard to be content.

But you know, in Philippians 4:13, Paul is referring to being content when he says we can do all things through Christ who strengthens us. Through Christ’s strength, you can be content.
So pray and ask God for the strength to be content. It may be a daily battle, but God is faithful and will be there every step of the way. Living a life of contentment is so worth the effort!
I also wrote a blog post on how to be content. It’s not specifically for single girls, but I hope it encourages you!

3. Future Marriage
I don’t think it is ever too early to begin praying for your future marriage! When God is in the middle of a marriage, it can be a powerful tool that God uses to advance His Kingdom. Because of this, marriages are a target for the enemy. So it’s important to pray, starting now!
Pray that God will strengthen, protect, grow, and nurture your marriage.
Also, if you want to strengthen your future marriage even further, my friend Michaela wrote a guest post for me on how to prepare for marriage. It’s amazing!

4. Wisdom
There will be so many decisions you’ll need to make as a single girl. Things like who to go out with, who to go out with on a second date 😉 , boundaries, and eventually who to marry. So pray for wisdom and discernment! Be sure to include God in every step of the decision making process. He will guide you.
Proverbs 3:5-6 (ESV)
Trust in the Lord with all your heart,
and do not lean on your own understanding.
In all your ways acknowledge Him,
and He will make straight your paths.
5. Community
Community is so important as a single girl! No person is meant to live this life alone. You need people in your life, whether friends or family, to encourage you, sharpen you, give you godly advice, and to be a listening ear. You can also be that person for somebody.
So ask God to give you a godly community that lifts you up. Pray for guidance in finding these people and be open to trying new things and getting out of your comfort zone. God will give you the courage and strength!
6. Joy
I encourage you all to pray for joy! Life is such a gift and I hope you do not take it for granted. And life does not start when you get a boyfriend. Life can be so beautiful and fun right now!
I thought about just putting this prayer topic with contentment, but I thought it deserved a point by itself.
Is life going to be easy? No. Are you promised a boyfriend? Again, no. But like I’ve said so many times before on the blog, life is not about getting married; it’s about knowing Jesus and making Him known. In that joy is found!
So pray that God will give you joy and help you find joy in the everyday moments, as well as the big.
Romans 15:13 (NIV)
May the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace as you trust in Him, so that you may overflow with hope by the power of the Holy Spirit.
7. Hope
At the end of last year, I felt like God gave me the word “hope.” Of course, I would love for that to mean that God is going to bring my future husband into my life this year. But you know, I’ve been learning that hope can mean a lot of different things.
God Himself brings me so much hope even though I am not promised a husband. He is enough and He is my hope.
So pray that God will give you hope. His hope. The kind that is not based on circumstances or a relationship status. That’s the best kind, anyways.

8. Ministry
Ministry and serving God should be a high priority in everyone’s lives! As single girls, we should use our time wisely.
Ask God to show you where He wants you to serve and then do it all to the glory of God!

Well there you go! I hope these prayer prompts encourage you to begin praying as a single girl. It can change your life!

Love these prayer ideas! great article! thanks for sharing!
Thank you, Kimberly!
I’m thankful for women like you who post these things that I can find and read through. I’m trying to grow closer to God, by giving all my worries to him. One of those worries is a popular one, marriage, but I have been reminding myself to be thankful even if unwed. The bible doesn’t declare everyone should be and will be married. By that instead of daydreaming about a far off future, when asked about relationships, marriage, and children, my next sentence goes as followed. “If the Lord blesses me with…( a man, a marriage, a family of my own)”. It is not worth all the worry and stress that it can cause just in a fantasy, or daydream. Again I am thankful for you and the other women who post these, I can learn and understand the God I belong to more.
Many blessings.
So glad that I’m able to encourage you! All glory to God! And sounds like you know the truth- life is about God and His glory, not marriage 🙂
