Can we talk about social media for a minute? Or a Can we talk about social media for a minute?

Or at least my relationship with it.

I’ve been using Instagram for years for blogging and personal use, and lately it’s just felt different.

Overwhelming. Pointless. Soul-sucking.

But then it also feels inspiring, educational, relatable.

Maybe it depends on where my heart is? Where my mind is? Or that my son is the biggest part of my life now, but I don’t share his face anymore so I don’t know what to post?

I’ve been taking a lot of breaks from it, which is great, but then it feels weird coming back to post. Almost like I should be all in or all out? Or somebody else has already talked about what I have to say.

I’ve slowly started posting on stories when I feel like it, and that has been a whole lot more life giving. No pressure, just fun.

So I guess there are 2 points to this post:

1. Is anybody else feeling weird about Instagram lately?

2. If I’m sporadically posting, I guess you know why now. I just am not sure what to post these days and sometimes my heart just needs a break from this fast-paced consumeristic app.

Oh, and I highly recommend social media breaks. I feel so much more present, creative, and alive when I’m not on these apps. And I can hear God better without all of the distractions.
What if a guy's/boyfriend's past scares you? Shoul What if a guy's/boyfriend's past scares you? Should you date him? I wrote a new blog post that includes some questions to consider from a biblical standpoint. I pray it gives you clarity! Link is in my bio. 🤍
I’ve shared before my struggle with perfection, I’ve shared before my struggle with perfection, and although I’ve gotten so much better at giving myself grace, I think the fact remains that when we are not perfect (which is impossible), sometimes we do mess up. And sometimes those mistakes are in regard to our children as mothers.

I think if you’re a mom, you’ve worried about “messing your kid up.” But I think that is when we have to remember this verse:

“Above all, keep loving one another earnestly, since love covers a multitude of sins.”
‭‭1 Peter‬ ‭4‬:‭8‬ ‭

I first heard this pertaining to parenting on Sally Clarkson’s podcast, and it’s stuck with me. All we can do is our best and love our children well. Love truly covers a multitude of sins. I know my mom wasn’t perfect, but all I remember is the way she loved my sisters and I so well.

There is grace, even in motherhood. And I pray often that God will fill in the gaps where I’ve fallen short. But of course, I’m always seeking to grow as a mom, because I want to please God and my children deserve my best. 🤍
I think I first heard the term “working home” I think I first heard the term “working home” in my friend Katy’s (@faithful.homemaker) newsletter. At least, I’m pretty sure that’s what she called it. Basically, we live in our homes and spend a lot of time there. It’s okay, more than okay, if it looks lived in. Right now, I have baby toys in the middle of my living room and the coffee table is pushed to the side. Aesthetically, it’s not ideal. But it works so well for us right now. Another example would be that we moved our exercise bike into our bedroom. Again, it’s not ideal, but right now, that’s the only way I would be able to use it. It would be difficult for me to go out to our shop/garage to use it with a baby.

Things do not have to be perfectly aesthetic. All that matters is that your family is well taken care of and that you can easily use the things that are important to you. My home is still clean and organized, but things might not be exactly where other people think they should be. But my days are simpler because of it.

What’s one stressor in your life that could be eliminated by simply moving an item to a more convenient location?

Tomorrow is my first Mother’s Day, and I’ve ju Tomorrow is my first Mother’s Day, and I’ve just been reflecting on how thankful I am to be this little boy’s mama. I always wanted to be a mom, but I never expected to have a baby so soon. I couldn’t imagine life without him though, and I know God’s timing is so perfect.

Motherhood hasn’t been easy- I’ve had to learn (and am still learning) how to hold myself and my baby to a standard of grace and not perfection, I am still trying to accept my new body and be thankful for all it’s done, and realizing my time and schedule isn’t my own anymore has been a challenge at times. But all in all, I’m so thankful that God has chosen motherhood to continue to sanctify me and make me more like Him.

I’m so thankful for my little buddy. 🤍
