I loved seeing all of the Valentine’s posts yest I loved seeing all of the Valentine’s posts yesterday. Celebrating love is so much fun!

But I couldn’t help but think how curated all of those pictures were- including my own. None of the difficult stuff behind-the-scenes was apparent or visible. Not that it should have been, but maybe it caused other people to question their own relationships, or lack thereof.

As for me and Jason, even yesterday we didn’t have lunch reservations until 3:00, so by the time that rolled around, we were both hangry and tired. We both had to apologize multiple times, and we had to work harder to show each other kindness and grace. I bet you wouldn’t have guessed all that from the picture I put on my story.

That’s not a huge deal, but my point is that no relationship is perfect. I know I’ve wondered if something is wrong with us when I see pictures of other couples that look so happy. Jason is an amazing man and I’m so in love with him, but dating is sanctifying.

So for those in relationships that are questioning if they’re doing something wrong, let me reassure you that you’re okay- keep seeking God together in the messy and imperfect moments. Enjoy each other and don’t let society tell you how your relationship should look.

And for those that are single, the grass isn’t always greener on the other side. Relationships are such a blessing, but they’re also imperfect and sometimes just plain hard. Please remember this when you see a “perfect” picture on social media.

I love you all and hope you had a great Valentine’s Day! ❤️
A little life update for ya 💛 - Towards the be A little life update for ya 💛

- Towards the beginning of January (or if I’m honest the end of December, I just kinda ignored it), I felt a tug to get off of social media for the rest of the month. So I did, and it was so refreshing. I just don’t do well with a lot of social media; I thrive when I’m living present in real life and only check in on social media once in a while. I’m definitely going to be working on that this year!

- I changed my major! After a lot of thinking, praying, and talking to those close to me, I decided teaching in a classroom setting wasn’t what I was called to do. I’m still in the field of education because that’s what I love! Andddd because of changing degree requirements, I’ll be graduating this December!!!

- And because of this change, certain life events may be happening sooner than expected 💍👰🏻‍♀️🏡 I’ll definitely keep you all updated 😉

That’s all! What’s been going on in your life?? Anything I missed?
My word (or phrase) for 2021 is ‘humble confiden My word (or phrase) for 2021 is ‘humble confidence.’

The alternatives are insecurity or pride, and I’m done with being either of those. I want to be confident in who God made me to be, His plan for me, and the choices I’ve made based on His leading. But I don’t ever want that confidence to turn to pride- I live my life for Jesus, not others’ approval.

I love this quote written out in my journal by A.W. Tozer about humility and confidence in the Lord’s plan. I’ll post the whole thing in my stories!

What is your word for 2021? 🤍
I chose the word ‘present’ for 2020. I am abs I chose the word ‘present’ for 2020. I am absolutely horrible at living in the present moment and enjoying what is right in front of me. Looking to the future is what comes most natural to me.

But I wanted that to change in 2020. I wanted to live in the moment and be fully present with those I love.

As we all know, 2020 didn’t go as planned 😂 I struggled to stay present at times, or actually a lot of times.

Over all, I would say I am better at being conscious of staying present. Often I find myself realizing I need to stop and take in the moment. But I still do not naturally stay in the present moment.

So in 2021, I will continue growing in this area and relying on God to teach me how to be still and focus on the present moment. It is so worth it!

What was your word for 2020? How did it impact your year?
Happy birthday to the best Christmas present I’v Happy birthday to the best Christmas present I’ve ever received! Emily, you are so full of love and joy, and I’m so grateful that you are my sister. I love you!

Merry Christmas! ❤️
To the single girl who feels like she’s not enou To the single girl who feels like she’s not enough:

Please know that you’re not alone. I remember when relationships would end, I would question if I really was enough. Or just not being in a relationship at all would trigger those feelings of inadequacy.

But you know what, I realized that everything that was happening was a part of God’s plan. When a relationship would end, God was protecting me from something that wasn’t the best for me, and He was freeing me so I could be available for something (not necessarily marriage) later. It wasn’t because I wasn’t enough.

And I also learned that I really wasn’t enough. I’m only enough IN JESUS, which makes me more than enough.

So girls, please remember that you ARE enough in Christ. When those feelings of inadequacy start to come on, remember that God is saving you FROM something FOR something- we just gotta trust Him ❤️
This has been one of the hardest semesters of my l This has been one of the hardest semesters of my life. I’m tired, burnt out, lacking passion for things I once was so passionate about, and so unmotivated. And the semester isn’t even over yet.

It’s not just college that’s been rough; there have been many other things that have just been hard.

I wish I had a nugget of encouragement or even a solution to share tonight, but I don’t really. I just have two thoughts to share with you.

1. The first is this passage:

“Not only that, but we rejoice in our sufferings, knowing that suffering produces endurance, and endurance produces character, and character produces hope, and hope does not put us to shame, because God's love has been poured into our hearts through the Holy Spirit who has been given to us.”
‭‭Romans‬ ‭5:3-5‬ ‭

2. The second is this: I am in this with you. I may not have anything profound to say right now, but I hope that it encourages you to know that you’re not alone in your struggle.

Comment an emoji below if you need some prayer tonight 🤍
