Something that God has been teaching me this year Something that God has been teaching me this year is this: as Christians, we are in this world, but not of it (John 15:19).

Sounds simple when we read it or quote it, doesn’t it? But it has an infinitely profound meaning in our lives.

We aren’t supposed to fit in or take part in the ways of this world. Examples of “ways of this world” are gossiping, premarital sex, cussing, pride, etc.

At work or school, we are in this world but not of it.

On social media, we are in this world but not of it.

In our families, we are in this world but not of it.

This mindset and lifestyle can be lonely at times. But knowing that we are NOT supposed to be like this world, but like Jesus, and that Jesus endured suffering and ridicule from this world too (for OUR sake), is SO comforting. We are never alone on this Christian journey. Jesus is with us every step of the way, and He has also given us the Church to live in community with.

So I challenge you to lean into this truth, that you’re in this world but not of it. If you truly believed it, would your life look different? Would you be a better witness and be able to impact more people? Join me in reflecting on the answers to those questions 💙
We’re engaged!!! ❤️💍🥰 I’ve prayed f We’re engaged!!! ❤️💍🥰

I’ve prayed for my future husband since I was a little girl, and saying ‘yes’ to Jason was an absolute dream. God has been so faithful and so kind. I cannot wait to serve Jesus for the rest of my life alongside this man.

Now let’s plan a wedding 😍
Honestly, I’ve been feeling pretty anxious latel Honestly, I’ve been feeling pretty anxious lately. I have big things and life changes coming up this year, and I guess my mind is overwhelmed. I don’t even think all of the big things are always where my anxiety is coming from, but the small things are also culprits.

It’s been a “daily, moment-by-moment, surrendering to the Lord” season in my life. You know, there are some seasons in life where it’s easy to stay surrendered to God. And then there are seasons where it takes strength every moment just to stay focused on Him and His peace.

For anybody else struggling with anxiety right now, I just wanted to share these verses that I’ve been clinging to and putting into practice:

“Don’t worry about anything, but in everything, through prayer and petition with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God. And the peace of God, which surpasses every thought, will guard your hearts and minds in Christ Jesus.”
‭‭Philippians‬ ‭4:6-7‬ HCSB

“You will keep the mind that is dependent on You in perfect peace, for it is trusting in You.”
‭‭Isaiah‬ ‭26:3‬ ‭HCSB‬‬

I loved seeing all of the Valentine’s posts yest I loved seeing all of the Valentine’s posts yesterday. Celebrating love is so much fun!

But I couldn’t help but think how curated all of those pictures were- including my own. None of the difficult stuff behind-the-scenes was apparent or visible. Not that it should have been, but maybe it caused other people to question their own relationships, or lack thereof.

As for me and Jason, even yesterday we didn’t have lunch reservations until 3:00, so by the time that rolled around, we were both hangry and tired. We both had to apologize multiple times, and we had to work harder to show each other kindness and grace. I bet you wouldn’t have guessed all that from the picture I put on my story.

That’s not a huge deal, but my point is that no relationship is perfect. I know I’ve wondered if something is wrong with us when I see pictures of other couples that look so happy. Jason is an amazing man and I’m so in love with him, but dating is sanctifying.

So for those in relationships that are questioning if they’re doing something wrong, let me reassure you that you’re okay- keep seeking God together in the messy and imperfect moments. Enjoy each other and don’t let society tell you how your relationship should look.

And for those that are single, the grass isn’t always greener on the other side. Relationships are such a blessing, but they’re also imperfect and sometimes just plain hard. Please remember this when you see a “perfect” picture on social media.

I love you all and hope you had a great Valentine’s Day! ❤️
A little life update for ya 💛 - Towards the be A little life update for ya 💛

- Towards the beginning of January (or if I’m honest the end of December, I just kinda ignored it), I felt a tug to get off of social media for the rest of the month. So I did, and it was so refreshing. I just don’t do well with a lot of social media; I thrive when I’m living present in real life and only check in on social media once in a while. I’m definitely going to be working on that this year!

- I changed my major! After a lot of thinking, praying, and talking to those close to me, I decided teaching in a classroom setting wasn’t what I was called to do. I’m still in the field of education because that’s what I love! Andddd because of changing degree requirements, I’ll be graduating this December!!!

- And because of this change, certain life events may be happening sooner than expected 💍👰🏻‍♀️🏡 I’ll definitely keep you all updated 😉

That’s all! What’s been going on in your life?? Anything I missed?
My word (or phrase) for 2021 is ‘humble confiden My word (or phrase) for 2021 is ‘humble confidence.’

The alternatives are insecurity or pride, and I’m done with being either of those. I want to be confident in who God made me to be, His plan for me, and the choices I’ve made based on His leading. But I don’t ever want that confidence to turn to pride- I live my life for Jesus, not others’ approval.

I love this quote written out in my journal by A.W. Tozer about humility and confidence in the Lord’s plan. I’ll post the whole thing in my stories!

What is your word for 2021? 🤍
