Hi girls! I am SO excited to share with you today my friend Abigail Tovah‘s guest post! I had the honor of guest posting on her blog about a month ago, and now she gets to write for mine. Abigail is the sweetest and I just know you’re going to love reading why every Christian girl should read the Bible!

I was 15 when my dad and I took a walk through the neighborhood on a chilly morning. It was a special routine we had, but that day made its own mark on my mind because that’s when I started digging into my Bible on a daily basis.
Nothing sounded more appealing to me than a cup of hot coffee and my Bible in front of me. So, when we got home and my hands defrosted (ok I’m being dramatic 😉 ), Jesus welcomed me into a sweet time with Him that has continued since.
The more I grow and watch the fallen world around me, the more I realize how vital a walk with God is. How vital His unchanging Word is. But I’ve also noticed that we often fail to take advantage of God’s Word. We let our faith get watered down by emotion and what we THINK God is like. And that’s a scary reality.
As Christians, we can’t just pick out a couple life verses and depend on our intuition to fill in the gaps. But…why?
Because the Bible is God’s love letter to humankind.
I don’t know about you, but that blows my mind. The Creator of the universe chose to bend down and breathe life into each page, for us! The Bible is 100% true, 100% reliable, and 100% driven by God’s love for our depraved selves. So what treasures did He store away in this precious book? Why do we need it so desperately? Here’s a small list of reasons I came up with…
Why Every Christian Girl Should Read the Bible
The Bible is our source of truth
Our culture is continually bending the rules, changing truth, and smudging boundaries. Keeping up with it is not only impossible, but detrimental. We’ll never win if we’re constantly floating around and playing guessing games. God gave us His Word so we would know truth, so we could plant our feet on solid doctrine, and so we would have access to His perfect teaching…all the time.
“So Jesus said to the Jews who had believed him, “If you abide in My word, you are truly My disciples, and you will know the truth, and the truth will set you free” (John 8:31-32, ESV).
With the Bible at our fingertips, we never have to be confused. God’s wisdom is poured into each page, and His truth never changes.
The Bible is our source of hope
So many times, I’ve crumbled under the weight of unknowns. Been discouraged by broken relationships, changed plans, life-altering news, and even death…yet one thing has always been my comfort. There’s one thing I can always rely on, no matter how heartbreaking or unnerving my circumstances…and that’s the Word of God. I can always depend on hearing His still small voice when I open up His word. A voice of comfort, assurance, and hope of a bright, bright future.
Friend, the Bible only becomes sweeter when our pain is at its worst. When everything looks bleak. God’s Word speaks life to us, because He spoke life into it (2 Timothy 3:16).
The Bible tells us Who God Is
Isn’t that legit? God tells us over and over to love Him—to serve Him—but He doesn’t ask us to do it on a whim. We don’t have to serve a stranger. He gave us everything we need to know about Him on this side of heaven. We can know Him in the most intimate, pure way, because He chose to let us in on who He is.
Sweet friend, you don’t have to wonder if God loves you. If He’s faithful when you fail. You don’t have to try to piece together who He is or tremble not knowing what He might do. The Bible is clear about His character. Clear about His grace, His fatherly affection, and His righteousness. You don’t have to play any guessing games. You don’t have to feel around in the dark to find God. He’s right there, waiting for you to get to know Him.
The Bible is a tool for evangelism
I don’t know about you, but witnessing is pretty scary to me. Telling other people about Jesus just isn’t easy for me. Of course I want to shout His name from the rooftops! I want to tell the world all there is to know about Him! But when it comes down to it, I’m terrified of getting tongue-tied and not knowing what to say.
Fortunately for all of us, we don’t have to rely on ourselves to get the gospel out. God’s Word is living and powerful (Hebrews 4:12), and it is the richest source of truth we could ever need. His Word can speak to people unlike we can. Use it!
The list goes on and on, but these are just a few reasons we need God’s Word so much. <3
Friend, God doesn’t waste His time on anything. He doesn’t create anything in vain. He wrote the Bible with such care and precision, and He did not intend for us to waste it. He wants us to use it. He says that EVERY word is profitable (2 Timothy 3:16), and I believe Him!
I want to treasure it and plant my feet on it as long as I live. What about you?
”But be doers of the word, and not hearers only, deceiving yourselves” (James 1:22, ESV).

Thank you Allison for sharing this wonderful post! Abigail is so clear and is so inspiring to know she is so young and wise!
I love the point when she said “we don’t have to serve a stranger “and that how dangerous is trying to fill the” gaps ” by our own without the word.
I do struggle to realise that the word of God and when things go wrong I might wonder “Is God still faithful?” but we don’t have to wonder, we can read it for ourselves 💚
