Reading is one of my favorite things to do, especially books for Christian single girls (maybe ’cause I am one?). Although I don’t have tons of time to read these days (thanks senior year), I have read some amazing books recently that I wanted to share with you! In my opinion, they are books every Christian single girl should read. And you know, even if you are in a relationship, they are still amazing. Most of them are written for girls in all stages of life!
For more book suggestions, you can read My Summer Reading Picks.
So here they are!

5 Books for the Single Christian Girl
Love Defined
I have the pleasure of being on the launch team for this amazing book. Have you heard of or read Girl Defined (such an amazing book!)? If so, it’s by the same authors, Kristen Clark and Bethany Baird. And let me tell you, it’s amazing!
I would recommend this book to you even if I wasn’t on the launch team. It is SOO good. I’m pretty sure it answers every single question single girls have.
It truly does define love the way God designed it. It gives practical advice for how to navigate and handle relationships with guys, breakups, being single, sexuality, and even marriage.
Because of the broad scope of the book, the way it solidly agrees with the Bible, and the practical advice, this is the #1 book I would recommend to you from my list! It’s just that good!
Please do yourself a favor and go order this book! It has the potential to change your life.
Love that Lasts
I think this is truly my favorite book from this list. However, I would only recommend it to those 18+ because of how deep it can get. If you are a mature reader and a little younger than that, use your own discretion! Don’t let me stand in your way, I just wanted to share with you my opinion.
This book truly redefines love. It addresses how the culture views love, and pretty much just declares it couldn’t be farther from the real thing.
Love the way God created it is so beautiful, pure, romantic, and even fun. Jeff and Alyssa Bethke truly try to convey this message. They share their own love story and life stories which are SO encouraging and inspiring to read about.
Jeff and Alyssa truly do convey a love that will last. It is funny, deep, inspiring, and life-changing.
I highly recommend this book to all of my mature readers!
Praying for Your Future Husband
It is no secret that I love Robin Jones Gunn or praying for my future husband. So putting them together?? A match made in heaven!
Robin Jones Gunn actually co-authored this book with Tricia Goyer. Tricia’s story is amazing. I don’t want to give it away, so just go read it!! Both Robin and Tricia share their stories in this book, as well as how they prayed for their future husband.
I really feel like this book gives a great list for what to look for in your future husband as well. Pretty much every prayer prompt that you pray for your future husband is an attribute you can look for in him. Super cool and encouraging!
This book is a must-read for all of my single girls, and even those in relationships! You shouldn’t stop praying for your future husband even when you’ve found him!
Savoring Single
I did an interview with the author of this book, Shelley Black, late last year! She is such an encouragement and this book is so full of her wisdom!
You know how many books on being single revolve around your future husband? I am not saying that is a bad thing whatsoever, but sometimes as a single girl you just want to know how you are supposed to live while waiting for him.
Shelley gives so much practical advice on how to live right now as single girls without sitting around waiting for our men. God has so much to teach us in this season! He also wants to use us and mold us into the women He wants us to be. As single girls, we have more time to spend bettering ourselves (in a holy way), and I really think we should make the most of it.
So maybe I shouldn’t have said that the first two books were my top picks. This one is amazing as well! Just read all of them, okay?
If you are single, I highly recommend Savoring Single!
When God Writes Your Love Story
Trusting God with our love lives can be scary, can’t it? Eric and Leslie Ludy share how their trust in God led them to each other, which is really sweet.
They understand it is hard to trust God, but they encourage you to give it all to Him. He truly understands and knows us better than we understand and know ourselves. He knows what is best for us. After all, He did create love, marriage, and romance!
This book encourages you that true love still is out there and that God will write a love story just for you if you let Him.
It’s definitely worth your time to read!
Well, there you have it! I’ve read other books on being single and God’s design for relationships, but these are my 5 favorites. There are so many more I want to read though! To keep up with books I have read, want to read, and am currently reading, you can check out my Goodreads account!
What are some books you would add to this list? What other books on singleness and relationships should I read? Please leave me a comment!
Oh, and I just wanted to let you know that some of these books are on Thrift Books! Kristen Shane recently introduced this website to me. Most of their books are super cheap (under $4) and you get free shipping on orders over $10. Shipping for under $10 is only $0.99!
With all my love,

Love this post! I’ll definitely be checking those books out! Another book that I would recommend for Christians is Adam Meets Eve by Peter Kerr. It’s been so helpful for me and had made an impact on how I think about God-honoring love.
I hope you love the books as much as I do! Oh I need to check that out. Thanks for commenting!
Such a great post! A beautiful picture to go with such great books!
Awe thank you so much Hannah!!
Thanks for sharing with us! I am very interested in Love Defined and Savoring Single especially! My favorite “waiting for prince charming” book I have read so far was the Botkin Girls’ “It’s Not That Complicated” :). And I can’t wait to check out thrift books – awesome!
Both of those books are so good- I hope you love them! I haven’t read that one; I’ll have to add it to my list. Thanks for commenting!
Thank you for sharing! 🙂

It’s my pleasure!
Thanks for the books round up. I will consider buying one for my Sister.
I have a similar useful post:

Awesome! Great post!
Here are my two favorites. “Singles at the Crossroads” by Albert Hsu, and “Wide my World, Narrow my Bed” by Luci Swindoll. Both focus on really living as a complete single person, instead of looking for a mate, or temporarily surviving as a single Christian.
Thanks for sharing!
Wonderful Article! I did enjoy every bit of it and there are many lessons to learn. I’m also a gospel blogger. Keep up the good work on this blog!
Thank you!
Awesome list! Thanks for sharing it! These certainly are the best Christian books around that I’ve seen so far. I’m really a book enthusiast and I have collections of books from great authors like Keion Henderson, https://www.keionhenderson.com/books/ and other famous writers. I hope this list will get to more people out there so these books will get more recognition !
I’m so glad you like it, and I hope you enjoy reading them!
My collegiate daughter will undoubtedly enjoy this, as will my wife! Now that you’ve mentioned this list for women, do you have any suggestions for the best Christian literature for men? I’ve given Keion Henderson’s books to my wife before, https://www.keionhenderson.com/books/, and I’d want to get some great ones for myself as well!
I hope they enjoy them! My husband said that his top three favorite books are Wild at Heart by John Eldredge, Spirit of the Disciplines by Dallas Willard, and Screwtape Letters by C.S. Lewis.
Great post, Allison! Another great one is Christina S. Hitchcock’s “The Significance of Singleness” that explores the theology of singleness.
Thank you so much! And thanks for the recommendation!
Keion Henderson’s book The Shift https://www.keionhenderson.com/books/ is a great book to read, it’s very inspiring and has so much to learn. It’ll help you to allow yourself to be able to hurt but also learn to forgive not only yourself but be able to understand the pain and purpose of your past hurts so you can let them go.
Sounds like such a good book! Thanks for sharing!
