My quiet time is one of my favorite parts of my day! I’ll be honest with you, though. My quiet times are not perfect all of the time. Well actually, they are never perfect. Sometimes I am filled with guilt for sin in my life. Other times I am distracted and can’t focus on Jesus- which makes me upset at myself.
But there are so many days I have such a sweet time with Jesus! I feel so close to Him and my heart is filled with joy and love for my Savior.
You know, though, every single one of those quiet times is important. Not a single one is wasted. Every single second we spend with Jesus is an amazing learning experience and each encounter teaches us something.
I want to share with you 7 ways that you can make the most of your quiet time and create a routine that makes you look forward to spending time with Jesus!

7 Ways to Create a Quiet Time Routine
1. Pick a time of day
This may seem simple, but it can be so important. If you don’t set aside time, you’ll probably get too busy and it just won’t happen.
Instead of fitting God into your schedule, try to plan your schedule around God. Make Him your life, and everything else will be put into perspective.
So pick your favorite time of the day and plan on spending some of it with Jesus!
2. Choose a Bible that you love
This also may seem simple, and any Bible will work. But make sure you choose a credible translation! They are not all the same. Do your research and pray about it. I personally recommend the NKJV or ESV versions. I talk a little bit more on choosing a translation in my free resource, “5 Ways to Dig Deeper into the Bible,” which you can sign up for here.
Also, you may want to find a Bible that you can journal in. I have this ESV journaling Bible and I love it! But remember, any Bible is wonderful and it’s all about the Words, not what it looks like 🙂
3. Remember, quality over quantity
Sometimes life is crazy and we don’t have hours to spend time with Jesus. During these seasons, its important that we remember that it’s more about quality than it is quantity.
Don’t beat yourself up. Instead, just enjoy the time you do have and make the most of it!
4. Find credible tools that help you understand the difficult passages
Devotionals and commentaries are wonderful tools to help you dig deeper into the Bible! Again, just make sure that they are credible. Research them and when you read, make sure they agree with what you know about the Bible.
My favorite commentaries are by David Guzik in the Blue Letter Bible app! My favorite Bible studies are by Kristin Schmucker over at the Daily Grace Co! I talk about some other tools in “5 Ways to Dig Deeper into the Bible.”
5. Find some people to discuss the Bible with you
Accountability and a group of friends and mentors to talk about the Bible with is very valuable! It is so encouraging to hear other perspectives and it also is important. Sometimes we get stuck in our Bible reading or don’t understand something correctly. Discussing it with somebody else strengthens your faith!
So maybe join a Bible study, or even start one! Find some ladies that you can count on!
6. Discover your learning style
Everybody learns differently, so discover how you learn best!
Do you do best when you take notes while reading? If so, you may enjoy this journal!
Do you do best when you color code your Bible? You may find the highlighting methods listed in my free resource fun!
Do you learn a lot if you listen to a sermon on the subject? There are tons on Youtube!
Find something that really helps you to learn and embrace it!
7. Enjoy your time with the Savior!
It is such a privilege that we even get to spend time with Jesus! Focus on Him and how good He is, not the gifts He gives you. He is so so wonderful, and we get to see a glimpse of that when we spend quality quiet time with Him.
Be intentional and enjoy! You were created for communion with Jesus, and it is only when you spend time in His presence that you will thrive.
